Jim's been reading it. It's strange to be reading or listening to something while the author is ending it all...

Yeah, that's what so surprising. Here's a guy who was a nationally ranked college tennis player, got a genius scholarship, became one of the most notable young authors by the early 90s and gave lecture and workshops on a variety of ethical/literary topics. Just surprising to me. But I should probably know better.

Anyway, I started but didn't finish Broom of the System. It did strike me a very smart but also fragmented. I'm not a big fan of voluminous footnotes in a novel because it strikes me as liberal arts term paper.

But people say good things about Infinite Jest. Maybe I'll try it too.
